Flight Safety Africa has been set up to fulfill an overwhelming need to assist in risk assessment and risk management of the aviation industry within the African Continent and, in the offshore oil and gas industry, to ensure compliance to national and international operational safety standards.

As part of the Flight Safety Group (Australia), FSA is able to provide every aspect of advice and information required for helideck compliance and certification and to carry out full audit services for the aviation industry, including friction tests with the only authorised friction tester – the Findlay Irvine Micro GT Friction Tester. With many years of experience and qualifications of the highest standards, the team at FSA promises professional interaction and competent service.

Flight Safety Africa offers Helicopter Landing Site (HLO) manuals specifically tailored to clients requirements. The HLO manuals provide guidelines for the safe conduct of helicopter operations and associated activities at offshore or onshore helicopter landing sites.

The requirements are based on the International Civil Aviation Organisation ICAO ANNEX 14 VOLII "Heliports", UKCAP 437, OPITO Approved Standard and the Operator’s Safety Case. Please contact us for further information.

FSA members of South African Oil and Gas Alliance and Helioffshore

Flight Safety Africa is pleased to announce that they are members of the prestigious South African Oil & Gas Alliance,  working towards continuous and improved safety in the helicopter industry.

Much like FSA, the SAOGA is based in Cape Town, but its reach extends across South Africa, the continent and even the world. Its basic aim is to serve the interests of industry and members in the upstream and midstream Oil and Gas Sectors in Africa.

More specifically, the organisation operates as a partnership between the public and private sectors, receiving public funding to carry out a range of industry development activities and working to promote the interests of members. It is overseen by an independent volunteer Board of Directors from industry and a number of other key stakeholders.
Indeed FSA is very pleased to be supported by the SAOGA in their quest to raise awareness of the current helideck regulatory vacuum in South Africa and also in much of the continent. Together we are committed to implementing a world-class system of regulation, inspection and certification for the benefit of all.

The SAOGA really is an amazing resource and we encourage all Oil and Gas related companies in South Africa to join and reap the considerable benefits. The website is packed full of interesting information and well worth a look: www.saoga.org.za
